What the Garre - Gharri Community are doing around Lafey Elwak Border is not good for the Peace in Mandera County. The militia captured today around Alungu, we are told are Gharre Terrorists enlisted under Al Shabaab in Mandera County who have made the Mandera Lafey Road Impassable due to security concern.
Of late, there were unconfirmed reports of some Politicians creating a Ragtag Militia in around Mandera Elwak area. These militia sometimes lialise with armed groups to create havoc within Mandera County. We urge the Ministry of Interior and National Coordination and other security apparatus to investigate and apprehend these people or get us a go ahead with the Gharri Community.
This Gare community has fought with almost all tribes in Northern Kenya. They fought with the Borana along Moyale Marsabit area, They fought with Ajuraan in the Bute/Buna area, They Fought with Degodia in Mandera North, They also fought with Marehan in Elwak Boruhache area. They have in several instances fought with the Murule Community to no avail.
We need Peace and the Gharri Community must be disarmed by the Government of Kenya.
